Terms of use

Development Wala provides a platform and ecosystem through which individuals and organisations can discover, publish, manage and engage with opportunities within the social and development sector.

Depending on the service, Development Wala may act as:

• An opportunity discovery platform;
• A job and recruitment platform;
• A recruitment service provider;
• A talent-matching platform;
• A platform for organisations to publish opportunities;
• A source of career information and resources; or
• A facilitator connecting candidates, professionals and organisations.

Development Wala does not become the employer, employee, grantor, grantee, contracting organisation, consultant, applicant or other party to an opportunity merely because that opportunity appears on or is facilitated through the Platform.

Where Development Wala is directly providing a particular service or entering into a separate contractual engagement, additional terms may apply.

You must provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account or using Development Wala.

You are responsible for:

• Information submitted through your account;
• Maintaining the accuracy of your profile;
• Keeping your login credentials secure;
• Documents you upload;
• Applications you submit;
• Communications made through your account; and
• Ensuring that your use of the Platform complies with applicable law.

You must not impersonate another individual or organisation or provide materially false or misleading information.

Certain features may require you to create an account.

Development Wala may provide different account types, including candidate/professional and organisation/employer accounts.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login information and for activity conducted through your account.

You should notify Development Wala if you believe your account has been compromised or accessed without authorisation.

Development Wala reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the Platform or create risks for Development Wala or its users.

Candidates may create professional profiles and upload information including:

• CVs and resumes;
• Education;
• Employment history;
• Skills;
• Qualifications;
• Professional interests;
• Salary expectations;
• Availability;
• Cover letters;
• Certificates;
• Supporting documents; and
• Other professional information.

By uploading information, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge; you have the right to provide the information; the information does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights; and Development Wala may process the information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Candidates remain responsible for the contents and accuracy of their profiles, CVs and applications.

By creating a candidate account and providing a professional profile or CV, you agree that Development Wala may store your information in its candidate and talent database in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Development Wala may internally review candidate profiles and CVs for recruitment and hiring projects managed or supported by Development Wala.

This may include identifying potentially suitable candidates based on:

• Professional experience;
• Education;
• Skills;
• Sector experience;
• Location;
• Career preferences;
• Availability;
• Compensation expectations; and
• Other relevant professional criteria.

Development Wala may contact candidates when we identify a potentially relevant opportunity.

Development Wala will not automatically send a candidate's CV or identifiable candidate profile to an external organisation merely because the candidate has registered on the Platform.

For Development Wala-managed recruitment projects, candidates will normally be contacted regarding the proposed opportunity before their identifiable information or CV is shared with the relevant external organisation.

Where the candidate confirms that they wish to proceed, Development Wala may share relevant candidate information with the organisation for recruitment purposes.

Where a candidate directly applies to an opportunity through the Platform, information submitted as part of that application may be provided to the organisation managing that opportunity as described in our Privacy Policy.

Development Wala may publish or facilitate listings relating to:

Development Wala aims to provide useful and reliable opportunity information. However, unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not guarantee that every third-party listing is complete, error-free, current or unchanged.

Opportunity details may be changed by the relevant organisation without immediate notice to Development Wala.

Users should independently verify important information before making significant decisions, including:

• Application deadlines;
• Eligibility criteria;
• Salary or compensation;
• Location;
• Employment conditions;
• Fellowship benefits;
• Scholarship amounts;
• Grant amounts;
• RFP requirements;
• Event dates;
• Application procedures; and
• Terms offered by the relevant organisation.

Where there is a conflict between information displayed on Development Wala and the official information published by the organisation responsible for an opportunity, users should verify the information directly with the relevant organisation.

Using Development Wala does not guarantee:

• Employment;
• An interview;
• Shortlisting;
• Internship selection;
• Fellowship selection;
• Scholarship selection;
• Grant funding;
• RFP selection;
• Consulting assignments;
• Volunteering placements;
• Event admission; or
• Any other outcome.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise as part of a separate service, final decisions are made by the relevant organisation.

Development Wala may assist with sourcing, screening, evaluation, recruitment coordination or other processes, but this does not guarantee selection.

Development Wala may provide recruitment and talent services to organisations. These services may include:

• Candidate sourcing;
• Screening;
• Shortlisting;
• Candidate assessment;
• Interview coordination;
• Candidate communication;
• Talent matching; and
• Recruitment support.

Development Wala may make recommendations based on information available to us, but final hiring decisions remain with the recruiting organisation.

Development Wala does not guarantee the future performance, conduct, retention or suitability of any candidate unless specific responsibilities have been separately agreed contractually.

Similarly, Development Wala does not guarantee that an organisation will hire, interview or make an offer to a candidate.

Organisations using Development Wala must provide accurate and legitimate information.

Organisations must not:

• Publish fraudulent opportunities;
• Misrepresent their identity;
• Provide intentionally misleading job descriptions;
• Misrepresent salaries, benefits or employment conditions;
• Collect candidate information for unrelated purposes;
• Use candidate information for spam or unauthorised marketing;
• Discriminate unlawfully;
• Request unlawful payments from candidates;
• Publish illegal or deceptive opportunities; or
• Misuse Development Wala's services.

Organisations are responsible for ensuring that opportunities they publish comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Development Wala reserves the right to review, reject, edit, suspend or remove listings that appear fraudulent, misleading, inappropriate, discriminatory, incomplete, harmful or inconsistent with our standards.

Candidates must provide honest information regarding their:

• Qualifications;
• Education;
• Employment history;
• Skills;
• Experience;
• Salary information, where requested;
• Availability; and
• Other relevant professional information.

Development Wala may suspend or remove profiles where there is reasonable evidence of serious misrepresentation, fraud or abuse.

Development Wala may list Scholarships, Grants and RFP opportunities for informational and discovery purposes.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, Development Wala is not the awarding authority, funding organisation or contracting authority.

Development Wala does not guarantee:

• Eligibility;
• Funding;
• Selection;
• Application acceptance;
• Award amounts;
• RFP outcomes; or
• Decisions made by third-party organisations.

Applicants and organisations are responsible for reviewing the official eligibility criteria, terms, deadlines and application requirements before submitting an application.

Development Wala may list events organised by Development Wala or external organisations.

For third-party events, Development Wala is not responsible for changes, cancellations, postponements, admission decisions, venue arrangements, speaker changes or other matters controlled by the event organiser.

Users should verify important event information with the organiser.

Development Wala may provide:

• Career resources;
• Guides;
• Templates;
• Articles;
• Educational material;
• CV resources;
• Interview resources;
• Sector information; and
• Other professional content.

Such material is provided for general informational and educational purposes.

It should not automatically be considered legal, financial, tax, immigration or other regulated professional advice.

Users remain responsible for decisions made based on such information.

Some opportunities may redirect users to:

• Employer websites;
• External application forms;
• Government portals;
• Organisation websites;
• Registration platforms; or
• Other third-party services.

Development Wala does not control independent third-party websites.

Once you leave DevelopmentWala.org, your interaction with that website is subject to the third party's own terms, privacy policies and practices.

Development Wala is not responsible for the availability, security, content or independent practices of external websites.

Certain Development Wala services may be free, while others may require payment.

Paid services may include services for candidates, organisations or other users.

Where a service is paid, applicable pricing, scope, payment terms, taxes, cancellation terms and other commercial conditions may be displayed before purchase or specified in a separate proposal, agreement, invoice or service terms.

Payment for a Development Wala service does not guarantee employment, recruitment, selection, funding or another outcome unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Development Wala's standard recruitment services are generally provided to organisations rather than charging candidates in exchange for employment.

Where Development Wala offers separate paid candidate services, such as career support, mentorship, CV assistance or other professional development services, payment is for that specific service and does not guarantee employment or selection.

Development Wala does not support misleading claims that payment guarantees a job.

Users may submit profiles, organisation information, opportunity descriptions, CVs, documents, application responses, images, logos or other content.

You retain responsibility for content you submit.

By submitting content necessary for operating the Platform, you give Development Wala permission to host, store, process, display or transmit that content to the extent reasonably necessary to provide the relevant service and as described in our Privacy Policy.

You must have the necessary rights or permissions to upload the content.

Candidates and organisations may provide confidential or sensitive documents where necessary for a particular Development Wala service.

Development Wala will handle such information in accordance with its Privacy Policy and any separately agreed confidentiality obligations.

Users should only provide information reasonably necessary for the relevant service and should avoid unnecessarily uploading highly sensitive information.

Unless otherwise indicated, Development Wala's website design, branding, original content, graphics, databases, software elements, resources and other proprietary materials are owned by or licensed to Development Wala.

Users may access Platform content for legitimate personal, professional or organisational purposes.

Users must not, without permission:

• Reproduce substantial portions of the Platform;
• Republish proprietary Development Wala content;
• Sell or commercially exploit Platform content;
• Scrape the Platform at scale;
• Copy or build databases from Development Wala's listings;
• Circumvent technical restrictions; or
• Misrepresent Development Wala content as their own.

Third-party logos, organisation names, job descriptions and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners.

You must not use Development Wala to:

• Commit fraud;
• Impersonate another person or organisation;
• Publish fake opportunities;
• Harvest candidate information;
• Send spam;
• Distribute malware;
• Attempt unauthorised access to accounts or systems;
• Scrape or extract Platform data at scale without permission;
• Violate another person's privacy;
• Infringe intellectual property rights;
• Engage in unlawful discrimination;
• Facilitate illegal activity; or
• Interfere with Platform security or operation.

Development Wala may take reasonable steps to verify organisations, opportunities or users.

However, verification processes cannot guarantee that every person, organisation or opportunity will always be legitimate.

Users should exercise reasonable judgement before:

• Sharing additional sensitive information;
• Attending interviews;
• Making payments;
• Signing contracts;
• Travelling for opportunities; or
• Entering into arrangements with another party.

If you believe an opportunity or organisation on Development Wala is fraudulent or misleading, please report it to us.

Your use of Development Wala is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy explains how we may collect, store, use, process and share information, including account information, candidate profiles, CVs, organisation information, applications, uploaded documents and other information submitted through the Platform.

Users may contact mail@developmentwala.org regarding privacy, data correction or removal requests.

Development Wala may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where we reasonably believe there has been:

• A violation of these Terms;
• Fraudulent activity;
• Serious misrepresentation;
• Abuse of another user;
• Misuse of candidate information;
• Publication of fraudulent opportunities;
• Security threats;
• Illegal activity; or
• Other conduct harmful to the Platform or its users.

Where appropriate, users may contact Development Wala regarding an account decision.

Development Wala aims to maintain a reliable Platform but does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

The Platform may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical failures, hosting issues, security updates, third-party service failures or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Development Wala may modify, add, suspend or discontinue Platform features from time to time.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Development Wala will not be responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising solely from:

• Third-party hiring decisions;
• Rejection of applications;
• Failure to obtain funding;
• Third-party opportunity changes;
• External websites;
• Actions of independent organisations;
• Information independently provided by users or third parties; or
• Events outside Development Wala's reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Use of Development Wala does not by itself create an employment relationship, agency relationship, partnership, joint venture, employer-employee relationship or other formal relationship between Development Wala and a user.

Similarly, listing an organisation or opportunity on Development Wala does not necessarily constitute Development Wala's endorsement of that organisation.

Development Wala and organisations using the Platform may update, modify, close or remove opportunities.

Opportunities may close earlier than originally indicated where positions are filled or circumstances change.

Users should therefore verify deadlines and important information before applying.

Development Wala may update these Terms as the Platform and its services develop.

Material changes may be communicated through the Platform or other reasonable means.

The latest version will be published on DevelopmentWala.org with the applicable “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of the Platform after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Unless another written agreement specifically provides otherwise, these Terms shall be governed by the laws of India.

Any dispute relating to these Terms or use of the Platform should first be raised with Development Wala so that the parties may attempt to resolve the matter in good faith.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be addressed through the appropriate legal process and jurisdiction in accordance with applicable law.
