Refund & cancellation policy

Last updated 14 Aug 2026

This policy explains how cancellations, refunds and billing disputes are handled for paid subscriptions and services purchased on DevelopmentWala.org (“Platform”).

It applies to organisations, employers and institutions that purchase a paid plan or a paid service from us. It forms part of, and should be read alongside, our Terms of Use.

1. Free Plan

The Starter plan is free and does not require a payment method. Nothing is charged for it, so nothing is refundable under it.

You may stop using the free plan at any time by closing your account from your account settings.

2. Cancelling a Paid Subscription

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time from your employer dashboard, or by writing to us at the address below.

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle that is already paid for.
  • You keep full access to your plan's features until that cycle ends.
  • You will not be charged again once the subscription is cancelled.
  • We do not pro-rate or partially refund the remainder of a cycle that is already in progress, except where this policy or applicable law says otherwise.

Downgrading to a lower plan follows the same rule: the change applies from your next billing cycle.

3. When You Can Request a Refund

We will refund a payment in the following situations:

  • Duplicate payment — you were charged more than once for the same subscription period.
  • Failed or incorrect charge — you were charged an amount other than the plan price displayed at checkout, or charged after a valid cancellation.
  • Service failure — a paid feature was unavailable for a sustained period because of a fault on our side, and we were unable to restore it.
  • First-time purchase, cancelled within 7 days — if you cancel a new paid plan within 7 days of the first payment and have not published any paid opportunity or contacted any candidate under that plan, you may request a full refund.

4. When a Refund Is Not Available

Refunds are not available where:

  • The billing cycle has been used — opportunities were published, applications were received, or candidate contact details were accessed under the plan.
  • The request relates to a renewal that was not cancelled before the renewal date.
  • An account has been suspended or terminated for breach of our Terms of Use, including posting fraudulent, discriminatory or misleading listings.
  • The dissatisfaction is with hiring outcomes. We provide access to the Platform and its features; we do not guarantee a number of applications, the quality of applicants, or that a role will be filled.
  • A free trial or promotional credit was used, to the extent no payment was actually made.

5. How to Request a Refund

Write to mail@developmentwala.org from the email address registered on the account, within 30 days of the charge, and include:

  • Your registered organisation name and account email
  • The payment date and amount
  • The transaction or invoice reference
  • A short description of the reason for the request

We acknowledge refund requests within 3 working days and aim to reach a decision within 7 working days. We may ask for additional information where a request needs verification.

6. How Refunds Are Paid

  • Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method used for the purchase. We cannot refund to a different card, account or instrument.
  • Refunds are initiated within 5–7 working days of approval. The time for the amount to appear in your account is then determined by your bank or card issuer, and is typically a further 5–10 working days.
  • Refunds are processed through our payment partner. Any payment-gateway or bank charges deducted at the time of the original transaction may not be recoverable.
  • Refunds are issued in Indian Rupees. Where a payment was made in another currency, exchange-rate movement between purchase and refund is not compensated.

7. Failed and Disputed Payments

If a payment fails, no subscription is activated and no amount is due. Where an amount has been debited but the subscription did not activate, it is normally reversed automatically by the bank within 5–7 working days; if it is not, contact us and we will trace it with our payment partner.

Please raise a dispute with us before initiating a chargeback with your bank. A chargeback raised without contacting us first may result in the account being suspended while the dispute is investigated.

8. Changes to Paid Plans

We may change plan pricing or the features included in a plan. Where a change affects a plan you are already paying for, it applies from your next billing cycle and we will give you notice by email before it takes effect.

If you do not wish to continue on the changed terms, you may cancel before the next cycle begins.
