Users should not upload sensitive information that is unnecessary for the relevant opportunity or service.

7. Candidate Database and Use for Development Wala Hiring Projects

By creating a candidate account and providing your profile, CV, resume or other professional information, you consent to Development Wala storing this information in its candidate and talent database and using it internally for recruitment and hiring projects managed or supported by Development Wala.

Development Wala may review and use stored candidate information to:

  • Identify candidates who may be suitable for current or future opportunities;
  • Search and shortlist candidates for recruitment projects managed by Development Wala;
  • Match candidate experience, qualifications, skills and preferences with relevant opportunities;
  • Contact candidates regarding Jobs, Internships, Fellowships, Volunteering, Consulting or other relevant professional opportunities;
  • Conduct internal screening and candidate assessment; and
  • Provide recruitment and talent-matching services to organisations working with Development Wala.

Development Wala's internal team may therefore access and review candidate profiles, CVs and relevant professional information where reasonably necessary for a legitimate recruitment or hiring project.

Being identified or shortlisted internally does not mean that your CV or personal information will automatically be shared with an employer, client or other third party.

Candidate Consent Before Third-Party Sharing

If Development Wala identifies a candidate as potentially suitable for a particular hiring opportunity, Development Wala will first contact the candidate and provide relevant information about the proposed opportunity.

The candidate will have the choice to:

  • Express interest and proceed with the opportunity;
  • Request further information before deciding; or
  • Decline the opportunity.

Development Wala will share the candidate's CV, profile or other identifiable application information with the relevant employer, client organisation or third party only after the candidate confirms that they wish to proceed with that proposed opportunity.

A candidate's decision not to proceed with a particular opportunity will not, by itself, require deletion of their Development Wala account or candidate profile. Their information may remain in the Development Wala candidate database for consideration for other relevant opportunities, subject to this Privacy Policy and the candidate's right to request removal.

Candidates may request at any time that their profile and CV no longer be considered for Development Wala recruitment projects by contacting mail@developmentwala.org.

8. Sharing Candidate Information with Employers and Third Parties

Development Wala does not automatically share candidate CVs or identifiable candidate profiles with employers, clients or other third parties merely because a candidate has registered on the Platform or is present in the Development Wala candidate database.

Candidate information may be shared in the following circumstances:

When You Apply Directly

Where you directly apply for an opportunity through DevelopmentWala.org, you authorise Development Wala to make the information and documents submitted as part of that application available to the organisation responsible for that opportunity, where applicable.

When Development Wala Identifies an Opportunity for You

Where Development Wala identifies your profile as potentially suitable for a recruitment or hiring project, we may internally review your profile and CV and contact you regarding the opportunity.

We will first inform you about the proposed opportunity and seek your confirmation that you wish to proceed.

Only after you confirm your interest may Development Wala share relevant information with the employer, client or organisation, which may include:

  • Your name;
  • Contact information, where necessary;
  • Candidate profile;
  • CV or resume;
  • Education and qualifications;
  • Employment and professional experience;
  • Skills and expertise;
  • Availability or notice period;
  • Salary expectations, where relevant;
  • Application or screening information; and
  • Other information or documents that you have authorised us to share.

Development Wala may communicate internally with its authorised recruitment team about candidates for the purpose of screening, matching and managing recruitment projects.

Development Wala does not sell candidate CVs, profiles or personal information.

Our approach is based on candidate choice: we may identify and contact you about an opportunity using the information you have provided to us, but your identifiable profile or CV will only be presented to an external organisation for a Development Wala recruitment project after you indicate that you wish to proceed with that opportunity.

9. Sharing Organisation Information

Information submitted by organisations may be shared where necessary to operate the relevant service or opportunity.

Public information, such as organisation name, description and published opportunities, may be displayed publicly on DevelopmentWala.

Private or confidential organisational documents will not normally be made publicly accessible and will only be processed for their intended purpose, subject to the permissions provided by the organisation.

10. How We Use Information

DevelopmentWala takes reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information against:

  • Unauthorised access;
  • Unauthorised disclosure;
  • Loss;
  • Misuse;
  • Alteration; and
  • Destruction.

Access to private candidate and organisation information should be restricted to authorised persons who require it for legitimate operational, recruitment, administrative or technical purposes.

However, no online system can guarantee absolute security.

12. Third-Party Service Providers

DevelopmentWala may use third-party technology providers to operate parts of the Platform, including services for:

  • Website hosting;
  • Databases;
  • File storage;
  • Authentication;
  • Email;
  • Analytics;
  • Payments;
  • Security; and
  • Other technical infrastructure.

These providers may process limited information on our behalf where necessary to provide their services.

13. Data Retention

We may retain user information for as long as the account remains active or for as long as reasonably necessary to provide DevelopmentWala's services.

This may include:

  • Candidate profiles;
  • CVs;
  • Organisation profiles;
  • Uploaded documents;
  • Applications;
  • Application history;
  • Recruitment records;
  • Opportunity submissions; and
  • Relevant communications.

Some information may need to be retained after account deletion where required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, financial records or other legitimate obligations.

Where possible, information no longer required will be deleted or anonymised.

14. Your Control Over Your Information

Subject to applicable requirements, users may request to:

  • Access their information;
  • Update their information;
  • Correct inaccurate information;
  • Replace or remove a CV;
  • Remove uploaded documents;
  • Delete their candidate or organisation profile;
  • Close their account;
  • Withdraw applicable consent; or
  • Request deletion of personal information held by DevelopmentWala.

15. Data and Account Removal Requests

If you want your CV, documents, candidate profile, organisation information, account or other personal data removed from DevelopmentWala, you can contact us at:

mail@developmentwala.org

Please use “Data Removal Request” as the subject of your email and preferably contact us using the email address associated with your DevelopmentWala account.

We may request reasonable verification to confirm that the person requesting deletion is the account holder or an authorised representative of the organisation.

After verification, we will take reasonable steps to remove the requested information from systems under our control, subject to information we are legally or operationally required to retain.

Please note that if you previously submitted information to an organisation through an application, deleting your DevelopmentWala account may not automatically delete information already received and independently retained by that organisation.

16. Withdrawal of Consent

Where our processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent by contacting:

mail@developmentwala.org

Withdrawal of consent does not necessarily affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

Some DevelopmentWala features may no longer function if you withdraw consent required to provide those services.

17. External Applications and Websites

Some opportunities listed on DevelopmentWala may direct users to an external website, application form or organisation portal.

Where information is submitted directly to a third party rather than through DevelopmentWala, that organisation's own privacy policy and data practices will apply.

DevelopmentWala is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of third-party websites.

18. Cookies and Technical Information

DevelopmentWala may collect technical and usage information such as:

  • IP address;

  • Operating system;
  • Login activity;
  • Pages visited;

  • Session information; and
  • General usage information.

Cookies and similar technologies may be used for authentication, security, analytics, preferences and improving Platform functionality.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

DevelopmentWala may update this Privacy Policy as the Platform, services, technology or applicable requirements change.

The latest version will be published on DevelopmentWala.org with an updated revision date.

Where significant changes affect how we use personal information, we may provide additional notice or request updated consent where appropriate.
