A leading grassroots non-profit organisation working for community health, tribal welfare and social development in underserved communities. The organisation combines field implementation, research, community engagement and evidence-based advocacy to address complex public health challenges.

About the Role

The Program Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for a large-scale district programme focused on reducing tobacco and alcohol use and strengthening community-level prevention and support systems. The role will lead a 30-member programme team and work closely with block-level teams, government departments, community stakeholders and technical partners.The position requires a hands-on  leader who can combine programme strategy, field execution, data-driven decision-making and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Programme Leadership: Develop annual and monthly work plans and lead implementation across the district.

• Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the district programme team, providing technical and operational support to Block Coordinators, Counselors and field teams.

• Programme Quality: Ensure consistency and quality of programme implementation across all 12 blocks through regular field supervision and review.

• Financial & Administrative Management: Oversee programme budgets, expenditure tracking, administrative processes and compliance.

• Monitoring & Evaluation: Support programme monitoring, data collection and analysis and ensure quality checks of programme data and documentation.

• MIS & Reporting: Oversee MIS systems and prepare periodic, quarterly and annual programme reports, using performance data to strengthen future work plans.

• Behaviour Change Communication: Coordinate with communication partners to design and implement behaviour-change communication interventions for target communities.

• Government & Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the programme at the district level and build relationships with government departments, community institutions, professional associations, civil society groups and other stakeholders.

• Advocacy & Knowledge Building: Support development of case studies, programme documentation and evidence to strengthen awareness and learning at the district level.

• Field Engagement: Undertake regular field visits to understand implementation challenges, review programme quality and support course correction.

Required Qualifications

• MBA, Master's in Public Policy, Master's in Public Health, Global Health or an equivalent postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.

• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Experience in public health, rural development, social work or programme management.

• Experience managing large or geographically dispersed teams.
• Strong understanding of programme planning, implementation and monitoring.
