GIS Expert

 Responsibilities: 

• Design, edit, manage, and prepare GIS datasets using GIS software for various programme initiatives, with a focus on data management, analysis, and visualisation. 

 • Integrate field-collected data with geospatial platforms and undertake map digitisation to develop spatial datasets and maps representing different types of programme information.

 • Perform data munging, cleaning, transformation, and integration to convert datasets into the required formats and build and maintain accurate dataset topology.

 • Develop and maintain systematic processes for the regular collection, updating, storage, and management of vector and raster GIS data.

 • Undertake cadastral mapping and COGO-based mapping, including mapping of subdivisions, parcel splits and aggregations, annexations, rights-of-way, government properties, and other complex land and property features.

 • Handle and process panchromatic and multispectral remote-sensing data for various GIS and spatial analysis applications. 

 • Conduct spatial analysis of GIS and remote-sensing datasets to identify spatial relationships, patterns, and trends using maps, graphs, and other visualisation tools.

 • Develop digital maps and thematic maps using appropriate projections and coordinate systems, including mapping of indices such as water bodies, vegetation cover, land use, and other relevant indicators.

 • Prepare analytical outputs and reports based on GIS and remote-sensing datasets to support programme planning, implementation, monitoring, and decision making. 

 • Establish and implement quality assurance and quality control processes for GIS, cadastral, and spatial databases to ensure data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and uniformity. 

 • Use mobile-based geospatial applications and tools for field data collection, geo tagging, mapping, and field-level spatial analysis. 

 • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of GIS workflows, data standards, methodologies, systems, and technical processes. 

 • Provide technical support and guidance to programme teams and partners on the use of GIS, remote sensing, mobile-based geospatial tools, and spatial data applications.

 • Design and facilitate training and orientation programmes for staff and partners on GIS applications, spatial data management, mapping, and basic spatial analysis.

 Eligibility criteria 

 • Master’s degree in Geology, Geography, Computer Science, or another relevant discipline, with a specialization in Geo-informatics, Geological Remote Sensing, GIS, or a related field. Relevant diploma/certification in Geo-informatics/GIS may also be considered. 

 • Demonstrated proficiency in GIS and geospatial software and platforms, including ArcGIS Desktop 10.8, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GRASS GIS, ILWIS, MapServer, GeoServer, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, and OpenStreetMap (OSM).

 • Strong knowledge and practical experience in digital image processing, including change detection analysis, Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) mapping, and other advanced remote-sensing and geospatial analyses.

 • Good understanding of and hands-on experience with modern surveying and field-data collection instruments, including GPS, DGPS, Aqua Meter, Piezometer, and other advanced surveying tools. Ranchi, Jharkhand 

 • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience in GIS, remote sensing, geospatial analysis, surveying, or related fields.
